This kind of one-upmanship is the WORST THING about being a (white, middle-class) parent.same person also says that they guess that “the parents who take their kids to poorly reviewed films are the same people who let their kids watch Barney”
my parents let me watch barney and didn’t try to carefully curate my taste in media i guess they’re terrible parents that didn’t love me ;______________;
i was hoping this was fake (i think i’m just not used to this sort of behavior) until i remembered talking to someone on the internet who said “when i have kids they’re NEVER watching disney movies, they’re watching miyazaki and kurosawa and that’s it!”

I can relate so much to the daughter in that Onion article! Well, the being out of touch side of it. I’m not sure that Barclay James Harvest count as well regarded.
